Skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Land
Merdeka 118, officially known as Merdeka Maybank Tower (Malay: Menara Merdeka Maybank), and formerly known as Menara Warisan Merdeka, KL 118, and PNB 118, is a 118-story megatall skyscraper in the Merdeka Precinct, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At 678.9 metres (2,227 feet) tall, it is the second-tallest building and structure in the world, only behind the Burj Khalifa (Dubai, UAE), at 829.8 m (2,722 ft). The structure was completed in November 2023, celebrating its grand opening on 10 January 2024, but the building was not opened to the public as scheduled. Finally, on 7 August 2025, the Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Hotel began operation on levels 75 to 112. The rest of the project remains far behind schedule as of 1 July 2026, still under construction with most areas closed to the public. The building's name, Merdeka, which means "independence" in Malay, is inspired by its proximity to Stadium Merdeka. The spire of the building was completed in December 2022, which marked its final height of 678.9 m (2,227 ft) above ground and 700.9 m (2,300 ft) above sea level. It is the tallest building in Malaysia—surpassing the 451.9-metre (1,483 ft) Petronas Twin Towers—and in Southeast Asia, surpassing the 462-metre (1,516 ft) Landmark 81. The building will also be the first in Malaysia to receive a triple platinum rating from worldwide sustainability certifications such as Green Building Index (GBI), including LEED. On 30 July 2026, Merdeka 118 Tower was officially renamed as Merdeka Maybank Tower (Menara Merdeka Maybank) after one of its anchor tenants, Maybank Berhad.

Islands in the southern Indian Ocean
Île Amsterdam (French pronunciation: [ilamstɛʁdam]), also known as Amsterdam Island or New Amsterdam (French: Nouvelle-Amsterdam), is an island of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands in the southern Indian Ocean that together with neighbouring Île Saint-Paul 90 kilometres (56 mi) to the south forms one of the five districts of the territory. The island is roughly equidistant to the land masses of Madagascar, Australia, and Antarctica – as well as the British Indian Ocean Territory and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (about 3,200 kilometres (2,000 mi) from each). It is the northernmost volcanic island within the Antarctic Plate. The research station at Martin-de-Viviès, first called Camp Heurtin and then La Roche Godon, is the only settlement on the island and is the seasonal home to about thirty researchers and staff studying biology, meteorology, and geomagnetics.
Biblical figure in 2 Samuel:11:2, wife of David
Bathsheba (; Hebrew: בַּת־שֶׁבַע Baṯ-šeḇaʿ, lit. 'Daughter of Sheba' or 'Daughter of the Oath') was an Israelite queen consort. According to the Hebrew Bible, she was the wife of Uriah the Hittite and later of David, with whom she had all of her five children. Her status as the mother of Solomon, who succeeded David as monarch, made her the Gebirah (גְּבִירָה) of the Kingdom of Israel. Bathsheba is best known for her appearance in the Book of Samuel, which recounts how she was summoned by David's royal messengers after he witnessed her bathing and lusted after her; David has Uriah killed and then marries Bathsheba, incurring the wrath of God, who strikes down the couple's first child in infancy before plunging the House of David into chaos and anguish. Jewish tradition often identifies her as the granddaughter of Ahithophel, while rabbinic lore describes Satan's role in her encounter with David. In Christianity, Bathsheba appears in Jesus' genealogy (Matthew 1:6) and is linked typologically to the Virgin Mary; Ethiopian Orthodoxy venerates her as a saint. In Islam, her story is rejected as incompatible with prophetic infallibility, with traditions explaining David's marriage to her differently. Scholars debate whether she was a victim of David's abuse of power or an active participant, and her story influenced views of David's later decline. Bathsheba became a prominent figure in art, literature, music, and film, often depicted bathing as David watches, symbolizing themes of power, desire, and divine judgment.
