Terms of use

Last updated: October 14, 2026

This English version is provided for convenience; in case of discrepancy, the French version prevails. Read the French version

These terms govern the use of WikiTCG, an online collectible card game whose cards are drawn from Wikipedia, available at wiki-tcg.com and, where applicable, in its apps (together, “the game”). The game is published by Vaxel (see the legal notice). Purchases are also governed by the terms of sale.

1. Acceptance

Using the game means accepting these terms. Creating an account, by email or with Google, requires ticking the box by which you accept these terms and the terms of sale. If you do not accept them, do not use the game. The version in force is the one published on this page.

2. Age

The game is open to players aged 13 and over. Under 15, signing up requires the consent of a person with parental authority. Any purchase made by a minor requires the permission of their legal guardian.

3. Your account

  • An account is created with an email address and a password, with a Google account, or as a guest. A guest account is tied to the browser: it can be lost if that browser’s data is cleared.
  • A confirmed email address is required to trade cards, play ranked matches, list a card for sale and buy in the shop.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for what is done from your account. Report any use you did not authorise without delay.
  • One account per player. Several people in the same household may each have their own, provided each plays for themselves. Using several accounts to gain an advantage is prohibited (see section 6).

4. The game

  • The game is free. Some offers are paid: they fall under the terms of sale.
  • Card characteristics are computed from public measurements of Wikipedia articles; they may change when those articles change.
  • The publisher develops the game — cards, rarities, stats, effects, costs, rules, rewards, seasons — for its balance and interest, including items already obtained. Such changes give no right to compensation.
  • So that the game stays lively at all hours, participants run by the game — match opponents, bidders and sellers in the auction house — may take part alongside players.
  • The game is in principle available at all times, with no guarantee of availability: it may be interrupted for maintenance, updates or incidents.

5. Virtual items

Cards, dust, packs, borders, card backs, WikiPass levels and rewards, and any other game item are granted to you as a personal right of use, non-exclusive and non-transferable, within the game only. They are neither currency nor property: they have no monetary value and can neither be refunded nor exchanged for money, without prejudice to your statutory rights and to the terms of sale.

Trades and sales between players take place only through the game’s features (trades, auction house). Selling, buying or exchanging an account, cards or dust for real money or for anything outside the game is prohibited.

6. Code of conduct

In particular, you must not:

  • let a program, script or bot play for you, open packs or bid;
  • exploit a bug or a loophole instead of reporting it;
  • use several accounts to gain an advantage: transferring cards or dust, arranging ranked matches, feeding a main account;
  • collude with other players to rig a match, a leaderboard or an auction;
  • misuse reports: reporting without reason, in bulk, or to harm a player;
  • choose a username, clan name or avatar, or write a message, that is insulting, hateful, discriminatory, harassing, sexual, violent, misleading or unlawful, or that impersonates someone — including the game’s team;
  • collect other players’ data, or send spam or advertising;
  • disrupt the game, or attempt to access data or features not intended for you;
  • scrape the site’s content on a large scale by automated means, other than search engine crawlers and uses permitted by the licences of Wikimedia content.

7. What players publish

You are responsible for what you publish: username, avatar, clan name, messages. You grant the publisher the right to display it in the game for as long as you use it. The publisher may remove or modify any content that breaches these terms or the law. A player or content can be reported from the player’s profile (“Report”), or to contact@vaxel.fr (see the legal notice). Each report is reviewed by a person; the reporter is never revealed to the reported player.

8. Sanctions

A breach of these terms may lead to graduated measures:

  • a warning;
  • if it happens again, a 7-day restriction, then a 30-day one;
  • finally, the permanent closure of the account.

A restriction suspends what involves other players — trades, ranked matches, listings, messages between players and in clans — and leaves the rest of the game available. Depending on the severity, the publisher may also cancel trades or sales obtained through a breach, remove leaderboard points or rewards obtained unduly, and, for a serious breach, suspend or close an account without going through the previous steps. Accounts belonging to the same person may be sanctioned together.

Each measure is notified in the game, with its reason. You may challenge it by writing to contact@vaxel.fr. A measure justified by a breach gives no right to compensation.

To detect cheating and multiple accounts, the game analyses account activity and keeps the IP addresses accounts connect from, as described in the privacy policy.

9. Liability

Card information is taken from Wikipedia and Wikidata as is: it may be inaccurate or incomplete, and the game is not an encyclopedic source. The publisher uses reasonable means to keep the game running properly, without guaranteeing it will be free of interruptions or errors. It is not liable for indirect damage, nor for what results from the user’s fault, a third party’s act or force majeure. Nothing in these terms limits the rights the law grants consumers.

10. Duration, closing your account

These terms apply for as long as you use the game. You may stop at any time and delete your account yourself, from the Account tab of your profile, or request its deletion by writing to contact@vaxel.fr from the account’s email address. Deletion is final: the account’s virtual items disappear with it. Some data is kept after deletion, as described in the privacy policy.

Should the game close, players would be informed within a reasonable time, and the sale of paid offers would stop immediately.

11. Changes

The publisher may change these terms. Any significant change is announced in the game before it applies; continuing to use the game afterwards means accepting the new version.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by French law. If there is a problem, please write to contact@vaxel.fr first: most questions are settled that way. Consumers also have the mediation options described in the terms of sale. Failing an amicable settlement, the dispute is brought before the competent courts under the ordinary rules.
